BigHorn Rodeo

The Nevada Gay Rodeo Association brings BigHorn Rodeo back to Southern Nevada for Mother's Day Weekend, May 7 to 9, 2027, staged at Horseman's Park just outside Las Vegas. NGRA describes it as a return after a gap year, and within the gay rodeo world it carries real weight, ranked among the largest events on the circuit.

What to expect

Competitors travel in from across the gay rodeo scene for standard rodeo events, run under the same rules IGRA uses for its roughly fifteen sanctioned rodeos each season. Think of BigHorn as a qualifying stop on the road to the International Finals rather than a standalone spectacle, riders take it seriously, and the crowd does too.

History and legacy

NGRA has staged BigHorn Rodeo since the 1990s at minimum, building it into one of the sturdier fixtures on the gay rodeo calendar. As a registered nonprofit, the association exists to keep western culture and rodeo sport alive while funneling proceeds toward other LGBTQ+ groups. It sits among 17 member associations under the International Gay Rodeo Association umbrella.

Horseman's Park is well removed from Strip foot traffic, so plan on driving or booking a rideshare rather than walking in from a hotel.
